Danke fuer euren grandiosen Support 🙏

Fedify 2.4.0 is out.
The main addition is support for FEP-ef61 portable objects. A Fedify server can now host actors whose identity is a DID instead of a domain, serve their signed objects through /.well-known/apgateway/, and verify the portable objects of other servers. I tested it against tootik and Mitra, and wrote up where Fedify's profile differs from the FEP and what it leaves out.
The release also adds application-defined background tasks, the ActivityPub Media Upload extension, per-request inbox reports, 410 Gone for deleted objects, and four new packages (AdonisJS, Netlify, PGlite, and interaction controls).
Some defaults changed, so please read the upgrading section before you update, especially if you federate with software that uses FEP-ef61 compatible identifiers.
Release notes: https://hackers.pub/@fedify/2026/fedify-2-4.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this cycle, and to @silverpill for patient answers about the FEP.
Fedify 2.4.0

“Project Meridian”? Kegsbreath gets rid of more commanders with experience and appoints these morons? A more appropriate name would be “Project Clusterfuck.” 😳

Abolish the death penalty.
@dirtycommo i believe it does, but i don't own any
@exquisitecorp i got a pentium 4 going with an old debian 32-bit distribution several years ago. it was very useful for accessing older media and it would run 2D steam games at about 25 FPS.
Okay, I’m setting myself a challenge: I’ll use only https://peertube.tv/ for a month. Any tips?

Society has done a really poor job of teaching people to enjoy learning how to do something, rather than just getting an outcome, huh?
I’ve been buried in election protection work today. Came up for air and saw this astonishingly dangerous news of Musk being made a DoD adviser. We HAVE do everything we can to put Dems in charge of Congress this election, ensure election results are respected, that we have free and fair elections in 2028 and vote out any Republican Fascist running for president then. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/30/pete-hegseth-elon-musk-taskforce-warfare
@heidilifeldman The timing of his return was curious. Did anyone ever figure out why the swing states in the last presidential election, that had polled for Harris, voted differently?
@exquisitecorp does it burn disks??
@dirtycommo i believe it does, but i don't own any
